Hot Spots for Dominican Republic 01 Jan-08 Apr, 2011

Hot spots were captured by MODIS sensor for the Dominican Republic from January 1, 2011 April 8, 2011. It is estimated that the amount of fires has increased over the years, generally as a result of human activities. According to the information provided by the Sub-Secretary of Forest Resources there are two periods of high risk for fires in the year: February-April and July September. In the following map the number of hot spots and their locations are shown for the Dominican Republic in January, February, March and the first days of April, 2011.
