MODIS image of Nicaraguas lakes during dry season

This image displays a nearly cloud-free day during Nicaraguas summer, or dry season. Although the lakes are not crystal clear (especially Lake Managua or Xolotlán, the smaller lake to the northwest), sediment plumes are not visible in this case. Turbidity levels throughout both lakes appear to be more homogenous. Images with 2-km, 1-km, 500-meter, and 250-meter resolution can be obtained from the NASA LANCE system's MODIS Rapid Response SERVIRNicaragua subset archive. See online resource information for a link to the archive.
