MODIS image of Nicaraguas lakes during the heavy rains

Greater sediment plumes are evident in this image captured in a brief cloud-free moment during the prolonged heavy rains. Note the extent of sediments reaching from the eastern coast of Lake Nicaragua (Cocibolca) and higher concentrations in Lake Managua (Xolotlán), indicated by browner waters. Images with 2-km, 1-km, 500-meter, and 250-meter resolution can be obtained from the NASA LANCE system's MODIS Rapid Response SERVIRNicaragua subset archive. See online resource information for a link to the archive.
