Alaska DOT Trails Inventory 1973

There are 153 USGS quads in the set of manuscripted maps showing the 1973 DOTPF Trails Inventory. Each one of the quads was digitized in AutoCad in Fairbanks under the direction of DOTPF personnel. Then each quad was coverted to ARC/INFO by DNR - LRIS personnel in Anchorage. Sometimes the quads needed to be re-registered to appropriate geographic location. After checkplots on each quad and edits where necessary -- the 153 quads were brought together into this integrated coverage named TRAILS1973. In the fall of 1993 in conjunction with the groundwork being done on the RS2477 project this coverage was reviewed in Fairbanks under the direction of Norm Piispanen and Kay Zito. As a result edits were performed in Anchorage by DNR - LRIS personnel to implement these suggested edits -- sometimes trails were geographically moved (redigitized) and sometimes re-numbered.
