| notes | Freshwater mussels are a species-rich group with biodiversity patterns shaped by life history strategies that include an obligate parasitic larval stage. Anchored hybrid enrichment (AHE) and ancestral character reconstruction (ACR) revealed convergence of life history strategies involving larval morphologies that reduce size to increase fecundity and require growth during encapsulation to increase survival post-metamorphosis. |
