Bismarck-Mandan Aerial Photography 2009

The project established digital 6-inch color orthoimagery for the Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The MPO is comprised of the City of Bismarck, City of Mandan, City of Lincoln, and portions of Burleigh and Morton Counties in North Dakota. Acquisition of aerial imagery for the MPO utilized the Intergraph Digital Mapping Camera (DMC) on 06 May 2009. The primary target area is the Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and vicinity (approximately 400 square miles). The project will successfully provide leaf-off DEM geo-referenced digital orthoimagery of the project area as defined by the MPO. The purpose of the MPO, a certified planning entity in the State of North Dakota, is to provide a forum for public officials, citizens, and other interested groups to establish policies and plans for effectively addressing various metropolitan transportation issues. The MPO has a planning process that supports metropolitan community development and social goals. These plans and programs shall lead to the development of an integrated, inter-modal metropolitan transportation system that facilitates the efficient, economic movement of people and goods. The aerial photography is courtesy of a partnership between the Bismarck/Mandan MPO, the State of North Dakota, the City of Bismarck, the City of Lincoln, the City of Mandan, Burleigh County, and Morton County.
