CHRPD_salmonidrestorationprojects070518_all

This shapefile (CHRPD_070518_all.shp) represents the locations of all ongoing and completed salmonid restoration projects in California with existing records in the California Habitat Restoration Project Database (CHRPD). The CHRPD was created in 1999 to capture and maintain data about habitat restoration projects in California benefiting anadromous fish. The CHRPD is managed and supported by the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC) and California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG), and funded by NOAA Fisheries and CDFG. Project locations are georeferenced by heads-up digitizing using two different methods. In-stream points and lines are tied directly to California hydrography using a customized ArcView extension, and all polygons and non-stream points and lines are digitized and maintained as shapefiles. Project locations are digitized in as much detail as possible based on the contractors' maps. A background layer of 1:24,000 DRG Quads was used to locate the projects precisely. All points and lines have been buffered to at least 25 meters and merged with the polygon shapefile to create a single shapefile with all project locations. The shapefile was generalized to reduce the file size, at a tolerance of 10 meters. WHAT EACH RECORD REPRESENTS: The CHRPD_070518_all.shp shapefile represents individual project sites of a completed or ongoing restoration project in the California Habitat Restoration Project Database as of May 2007. Many of the projects have multiple sites.
