The prescription calls for commercial sales and mechanical removal of some stems from the treatment areas. Management objectives for this compartment are directed toward the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker and are governed by the guidelines in the RCW Recovery Plan. Objectives: To maintain the health and vigor of the upland forest habitat in accordance with our approved Wildlife/Timber Management Plan and to move toward the goals established by the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker Recovery Plan for improving habitat for RCWs.
