Individuals License to Construct, Inspect, Maintain and Repair Elevators and Conveyances

The New York State Department of Labor Division of Safety and Health requires individuals to be licensed to engage in the design, construction, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, alteration, service, and repair of elevators and other conveyances. The data being displayed is for individuals who hold an active license, or a license that has expired within the past two years, for: • Elevator Mechanic – responsible for the design, construction, installation, maintenance, alteration, service, and repair of elevators and other conveyances, or • Accessibility Lift Technician – responsible for the design, construction, installation, maintenance, alteration, service, and repair of accessibility lifts, or • Elevator Inspector – responsible for the inspection or testing of elevators and other conveyances. • Elevator Accessibility Technician - may be substituted for the Accessibility Lift Technician license for the limited use of engaging in elevator and conveyance work that is restricted to accessibility platform lifts that are covered by the provisions of: o American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) codes and standards o A18.1 2017 Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts
