Loggerhead Sea Turtle Egg Transplant Program

Each nest was checked in the early morning and late afternoon. Hatchlings were removed daily from the protective baskets and released on the beach. A total of 554 eggs hatched from 15 nests containing 1,259 eggs transplanted from Cape Romain. A hatching success of only 44.0% was attained with the hatching period extending from 2 to 30 days
