Madera County LAFCO Tour 2018

This tour takes you through tree mortality as it applies to Madera County. We will discuss the impacts of the rapid tree mortality event that has/is occurring throughout the Sierra Nevada Region (SNR). Being that 60% of the state’s water comes from the SNR the impacts associated with the 129 million dead trees in the region (and counting) have a huge impact on local communities, ecosystem services, public safety and thus all Californians.  Many Sierra Nevada counties have limited resources/infrastructure close enough to dispose of increasing amounts of woody materials which results in excess storing/decomposition or large-scale burning operations. Numbers referenced in this tour will be updated as new information becomes available. The anticipated duration of the Web Map Application expires on 12/31/2019
