Midway Atoll NWR: Invasive Plant Management - Annual Weed Monitoring (including Verbesina encelioides) [PRIMR]

The Annual Weed Monitoring survey informs the invasive species management program, including its efforts to eradicate weed Verbesina encelioides (golden crownbeard). The primary motivation for conducting this survey is to provide data on the distribution and abundance of priority weed species on Midway Atoll NWR, especially Verbesina encelioides (golden crownbeard). Data on weed abundance and distribution are used to (1) evaluate effectiveness of weed control efforts; (2) understand population growth rates and capacity of weed species to spread; and (3) understand abundance of native species and progress of restoration efforts.
