appUsageInfo
PyreCast is an open-source, web-based platform for viewing active fires and forecasting likely fire spread to support operational decision-making. The app provides 2D/3D interactive visualization, standardized layers (fuel models, weather, active fire detections), critical infrastructure (transmission lines, structures), and integrated camera feeds (e.g., ALERTCalifornia), plus APIs for ingesting weather and modeling inputs. PyreCast is used by incident managers, utilities, researchers, and emergency planners to evaluate near-term fire behavior, assess exposure of assets and communities, run scenario-based planning, and export maps and datasets for field response and situational reporting.
