Results of individual and collocated lifeline exposure to hazards (and associated hazard and multi-hazard exposure surface data) resulting from the HayWired scenario earthquake sequence for counties and cities in the San Francisco Bay area, California

These data are a summary of modeled exposure of various lifeline infrastructure linear features and facilities (transportation, water supply and wastewater, oil and gas, electric power, and telecommunications) to potential hazards resulting from the HayWired earthquake scenario, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurring on the Hayward Fault on April 18, 2018, with an epicenter in the city of Oakland, CA. Compilations of potential collocations between various lifeline infrastructure systems components (all lifeline components, transmission-level components only, distribution-level components only, more societally critical components only, and less societally critical components only) and their potential multi-hazard exposure were also estimated for the HayWired earthquake scenario mainshock. Existing hazard data (surface offset, ground shaking (mainshock and aftershocks), landslide, liquefaction, and fire following earthquake) were looked at alone and in combination with each other relative to the lifeline infrastructure linear features and facilities to provide estimates of potential exposure to various hazards at varying hazard intensities. Finally, the lifeline infrastructure linear features, facilities, and potential collocations were assessed relative to a single multi-hazard intensity surface developed for this purpose--this multi-hazard surface and the expanded liquefaction probability data needed to complete the multi-hazard surface are included as part of this data release, as is the aftershock ground shaking intensity dataset used for identifying potential repeat exposure to ground shaking. Individual lifeline infrastructure system summaries aggregate the lifeline infrastructure linear feature and facility exposure to the community level within each county, while collocation data have simply had community and county information assigned as an aid for summarizing results. The expanded liquefaction probability dataset, the aftershock ground shaking intensity dataset, and the final multi-hazard exposure surface dataset are vector .SHP format and were developed and intended for use in GIS applications such as ESRI's ArcGIS software suite. The table-based individual lifeline exposure summaries and lifeline collocation datasets are comma-delimited .CSV format and were developed and intended for use in standalone spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel.
