Urbanization imprints on soil texture and carbon

We provide a unique dataset characterizing urban soil profiles and their complementary pre-urban reference soil profiles for carbon content, and a proxy for soil texture, by depth to 1.5m. The research effort interprets this data in the context of urbanization impacts on the soil ecosystem with hydrologic and geotechnical implications.

This dataset is associated with the following publication: Herrmann, D., L. Schifman, and W. Shuster. Urbanization drives convergence in soil profile texture and carbon content. Environmental Research Letters. IOP Publishing LIMITED, Bristol, UK, 15(11): 114001, (2020).
