| notes | <p>Tourism data from all the Embarkation/Disembarkation (E/D) Cards were entered in a computer<br /> system located at the Corporate Head Office, Jamaica Tourist Board, Kingston. The data on<br /> stopovers, including demographics, were derived from this source.</p> <p>Jamaican nationals’ resident abroad and who visited Jamaica are included in the visitor arrival figures.<br /> Jamaica has conformed with "Recommendations on Tourism Statistics" prepared by the World<br /> Tourism Organization and adopted by the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) in 1993.</p> <p>These recommendations state that nationals who reside abroad and who return as visitors should<br /> be included in Tourism Statistics. The Jamaica Tourist Board has been publishing visitor arrival<br /> figures on Non-Resident Jamaicans since 1989.</p> <p>Fly-cruise passengers i.e. Cruise Passengers flying into the island to meet the cruise ship are not<br /> included in tourist arrival figures, unless they spend at least one night in land-based accommodation.<br /> Data on cruise ship arrivals were obtained from the ships' manifests.</p> |
