Wildfire Risk to Communities Building Exposure Type (Image Service)

This dataset is the Building Exposure Type (BuildingExposure) raster for the United States. It is part of the data publication Wildfire Risk to Communities: Spatial datasets of wildfire risk for populated areas in the United States. Exposure is the spatial coincidence of wildfire likelihood and intensity with communities. The BuildingExposure layer delineates whether buildings at each pixel are directly exposed to wildfire from adjacent wildland vegetation (pixel value of 1000), indirectly exposed to wildfire from indirect sources such as embers and home-to-home ignition (pixel values between 0 and 1000), or not exposed to wildfire due to distance from direct and indirect ignition sources (pixel value of 0). It is similar to Exposure Type in the companion data publication (Scott et al. 2020), but just in places where housing units or other buildings are present. Metadata and Downloads.Note: Pixel values in this image service have been altered from the original raster dataset due to data requirements in web services. The service is intended primarily for data visualization. Relative values and spatial patterns have been largely preserved in the service, but users are encouraged to download the source data for quantitative analysis.Short, Karen C.; Finney, Mark A.; Vogler, Kevin C.; Scott, Joe H.; Gilbertson-Day, Julie W.; Grenfell, Isaac C. 2020.
