| notes | Motivated by observations of the Crab pulsar and the recent discovery of gravitational waves, I am applying to renew my NESSF proposal on the Rotational Dynamics and Evolution of Magnetic Neutron Stars. In the enclosed document, I describe the progress made over the past year resulting in a publication, as well as ongoing and future research directions. The subject areas are dynamical evolution of a Neutron star feeling inertial and radiative torques from the star’s magnetic field. The future directions involve calculating the change which elasticity makes in the free precession frequency of a neutron star, as well as calculating the energy which an interfacial elastic mode absorbs during the in-spiral phase of a neutron star binary pair, or neutron star black hole binary. |
