| notes | This is a line vector feature class depicting trail centerlines in Alaska State Parks. Trailways were collected continuously along centerlines at a logging rate of one position per five seconds. Attributes collected in association with Trailway include grade, width, natural and constructed surfaces, side slope, brushiness, erosion evidence and impact ruts. Trails were segmented when one or more of the field-entered attributes changed. The minimum trail length was 25 feet when segmentation occurred, with the exception of severe trail grade changes or when bridges were encountered that were longer than 15 feet. Trail grade and side slopes were measured with clinometers and recorded in percent slope. All data was collected by a two-person team on foot, bike, or six wheel ATV using Trimble Pro XRS GPS beacon receivers using real-time differential sources. Attributes for features were collected in the field through direct observation and through the use of a data dictionary with collaboration between multiple agencies. |
