Record of PNW HAB bulletins (Pacific Northwest Harmful Algal Bloom Forecasting Bulletin)

The Pacific Northwest HAB bulletin provides advance warning of harmful algal blooms (HABs) with the intent of increasing the options for managing these HAB events. Coastal managers rely on interpreted data that can aid in and support their management decisions in response to HAB events. The objective of the PNW HAB bulletin is to integrate and analyze the data and models necessary to support managers responsible for ecosystem and public health, including seafood safety and fisheries. The bulletin predicts conditions for HAB initiation, detects and distinguishes new blooms as HAB or non-HAB events, monitors (nowcasts) identified HABs, and forecasts the transport of identified HABs. The HAB-Forecasting System does not serve data; rather it relies on current and proposed data distribution capabilities. The analysts who produce the HAB forecast rely on IOOS data sets (winds, currents, satellite imagery). Information used to generate the PNW HAB bulletins
