The objectives of the baseline survey were to 1) Establish the baseline values of the project indicators in order to monitor and evaluate progress of the project, and 2) To analyze the migratory context, in order to understand the situations of beneficiary households directly affected by the migration crisis (migrants and returnees, mixed families). 250 households were interviewed in the project’s target areas near the city of Cucutá Colombia, on the Venezuelan border. There were an average of 4.90 people per household, mostly mixed Colombian and Venezuelan (29.6%) and 42% resident Colombian. About 82% stated they intend to permanently stay in Colombia. Families arrive in the city but usually live in suburban and outlying neighborhoods or settlements, where they receive the support of the community. Many expressed their gratitude to the community, saying it has been more helpful than organizations or the state. 16.7% of people interviewed were not employed or not working. Of those who work, nearly two-thirds or 61.4% are self-employed. About 8.0% of children 6 to 17 years of age are not attending school. About 35.6% of families interviewed had ever attended at child protection workshop. About 44.0% of respondents stated they felt their children are NOT safe where they live. About 21.2% of those interviewed have attended trainings on GBV issues.
